Rhea Ripley aka “mami” has been going viral for her looks all over the internet, the “dark”, “goth” makeup and her short jet-black hairs, makes her look a natural dominant heel but this wasn’t always the case.
Back in 2017, when she first signed with the WWE and made her NXT debut, she was 20 years old and had a simple girl-next-door look with long blonde hair, a complete 180 degree from her today’s look but back then it was the normal and it was how divas were supposed to be.
But what really led her to make such a drastic change in her look?
It was because of Toni Storm, Yes the current AEW Women’s World Champion but back then both Rhea and Toni were signed by the WWE at around the same time. Both hailed from Australia and almost had a similar look.
And many would often make the comparison between the two and tell them that they were so similar but Rhea did not like it as she wanted to differentiate herself from other female wrestlers and make her own mark.
So, this is when she decided to cut her hair and it was something she always wanted to do but was always very scared as she used to hide behind her long hair because of her shy nature.
But once she got together the courage to cut it, the hair got shorter and shorter, every other NXT show and further experimenting with her looks she decided to ink her arm and trade long pants with bold tight shorts.
And the look became a hit, garnering over 900 million views on WWE’s official TikTok page and no one is more proud of this than Rhea.

Although Rhea and Dominic’s on screen relation has been lit, she in real life has been dating AEW Star Buddy Murphy, when they were both wrestling for the WWE.
Both Buddy and Rhea hail from Australia and the duo was engaged in October of 2023.
Rhea revealed this while sharing a post on instagram, while no date has been announced for the wedding as of today but isn’t it ironic that Buddy before leaving WWE in June of 2021, was involved in an on-screen love story involving Dominik’s sister Aalyah.
But this isn’t the only relation Rhea has had, as she once dated Jett Armstrong, a wrestler 10-year older than her.
The couple started dating around late 2016 and early 2017, as Ripley had begun sharing photos of them together as a couple on instagram around that period and in a March 2017 post.
she also referred, Jett as her “Man Crush” and also referred him as “my man” in a April 2017 post.
And this relationship continued after Rhea signed with WWE but the couple separated in January of 2018 due to unknown reasons.

At wrestlemania 39, Rhea Ripley defeated Charlotte Flair to win the Smackdown Women’s Championship, although this in itself is a big achievement, Rhea had accomplished something even bigger.
Rhea has had already won the NXT UK Women’s and NXT Women’s Championship, Raw women’s Championship, WWE Women’s Championship, the WWE Women’s tag team title and now winning the Smackdown Women’s Championship at wrestlemania 39 made her the fifth Women’s Grand Slam Champion, but the first to achieve that with an NXT UK Champion added to the catalogue.
And this is what she later said on the achievement, “Being the first Grand Slam Champion, to have those championships is so satisfying. I’m so proud of my journey to WWE and journey in WWE. To have all of those moments.
That’s one thing I strive for, I want to write my name in the history books, and I’ve gone and done that.”
2. Rhea is a huge Dragon Ball Z Fan
At Wrestlemania 36, when Rhea faced Charlotte for the NXT women’s Championship. Although she lost the match against Charlotte, she drew a lot of attention for her outfit.
She wore a white, gold and blue colour outfit i.e. a costume of Vegeta, a character in Dragon Ball Z. Later, she posted on twitter her old picture in vegeta costume comparing it with her wrestlemania 36 costume.
She later in an interview, in reference to vegeta said, “I need to unlock that feeling inside of me. I love the way that he acts. I love that he’s just a snob, but he’s a babyface at the same time. You know, like, people love him, but he doesn’t care that people love him and that’s sort of the energy that I wanted to bring. You can love me. You can hate me. I don’t care.”
Rhea also has a Vegeta quote tattooed on her leg that reads, “I do not fear this new challenge, rather like a true warrior, I will rise to meet it.”

While many may think that WWE Superstars are their characters, and are immune to mental health issues, Rhea has spoken about how she used to do self-harm and revealed that a large part of her survival was the drive and determination to make it to WWE.
She said, “I used to cut myself. I used to do that when I was younger and even think about it now when I’m really beating myself up. It sort of made me feel more alive than I felt on the inside. I felt very dead on the inside and broken. When you rip the skin, you know you’re still alive and the blood is still pumping because it’s coming out.
That’s how I felt, at least. I’m not too sure if everyone feels that way because everyone’s story is different and everyone feels differently, but that’s how I felt. I used to do that when I was younger and I still have scars to show.
I’ve got them on my thigh. The ones on my wrist aren’t very visible because they’ve healed, but the one thing that really kept me going was that I wanted to make it here.”
But today Rhea has come a long way, for the success she has managed to achieve in such a short period of time and is an inspirational figure to many.
